Who is Zymear Smith

Zymear Smith is a four-star athlete from Ridgley, MD, standing at 5-feet-11 and 170 pounds. He chose Alabama over Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas. Smith played on both sides of the ball at North Caroline High School but is being recruited as a defender by Alabama.

Scouting Zymear Smith

During his junior season, Smith recorded seven pass breakups, three interceptions (including a pick-six), and a forced fumble. On the offensive side of the ball, he rushed for 670 yards and eight touchdowns, accumulating 427 yards and four touchdowns through the air. Smith also proved to be a playmaker on special teams, returning two punts for touchdowns.

What is the Impact of the Commitment to Alabama

With Alabama poised to lose more of its already depleted secondary following this upcoming season, Zymear Smith is a welcome addition to arguably the most important position group in Kane Womack's defense. With Womack playing five defensive backs at a time for most of the snaps, Smith will have a good chance to be an immediate contributor on the field.

Smith becomes the fourth commit in Kalen Deboer's inaugural class joining Antonio Coleman, Anthony Rodgers, and Myles Johnson.
