DAWG Recruiting 2024 five-star OT Weston Davis Flips his Commitment over to LSU

Who is Weston Davis?

Weston Davis is a five-star offensive tackle from Beaumont United High School, in Beaumont Texas. The six-foot-five-inch, 275-pound senior committed to Texas A&M University back in June but has now gone all-in on LSU and Head Coach Brian Kelly.

What is the Impact for LSU from this commitment?

This commitment gives LSU its 26th commitment for the 2024 recruiting class. This addition places the Tigers in ninth place overall for High School recruiting and fifth place in the SEC. Weston Davis is the third offensive tackle committed to LSU for 2024, but he is the highest-rated amongst LSU hard commits.

How quickly can Weston Davis contribute to the Bayou Bengals?

As of right now, the oldest tackle on the roster is a sophomore. Currently, there are two sophomores and two true freshmen on the two-deep depth chart. With the youth on the roster this means Davis can either be a rotational depth player or "next man up".

Scouting Weston Davis

Davis is a very dominant run blocker but has to resort to chopping on pass plays. Once he blows up his opposition instead of going to the next level to pick up the linebacker or safety, he remains focused on his initial block. While run blocking he excels in setting the edge and completely removing his man from the play. While he does have a slow initial "kick step" penalties are not a problem and he plays cautiously but aggressively.
