The Best Quarterback From Every NFC East Team

Best Quarterback

There have been several great quarterbacks throughout the history of the NFL. Most QBs have had their share of highlight moments, dream seasons and dominant performances.

This is the fifth installment of every NFL team's best quarterback by division, now with the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys Best Quarterback: Roger Staubach

Roger Staubach helped redefine what a quarterback could do. His dual-threat capabilities flummoxed defenses on the ground (5.5 yards per carry in his career). Staubach also led the league in passer rating in 4 of his 8 seasons as a starter. The former Heisman Trophy winner from the Naval Academy didn't join the Cowboys until 1969 when he was 29.

Best Quarterback

By 1971, he won the starting job from Craig Morton in midseason and led Dallas to their first Super Bowl title. "Roger the Dodger" led the Cowboys to 4 Super Bowl appearances, winning 2, before retiring in 1979. He only missed the playoffs once during his tenure as the club's starter and was named to 6 Pro Bowls. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.

New York Giants: Eli Manning

Eli Manning or Phil Simms? Each has 2 Super Bowl rings, but Manning's numbers in those 2 Super Bowl runs give him the edge. The hot takes and debates have been discussed immensely as to whether or not Manning belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame after his retirement in 2019, and that's understandable.

Best Quarterback

He had some awful years, especially later in his career. But he made 4 Pro Bowls and ranks in the Top 10 all-time for quarterbacks for completions, yards and touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles: Donovan McNabb

In 9 seasons as the starter, Donovan McNabb led the Eagles to 5 NFC Championship games and 1 Super Bowl.

But his ultimate failure to win a title weighs heavily on his legacy. The former Syracuse star is the Eagles' all-time leader in touchdown passes, passing yardage, and wins.

McNabb at his peak was one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks and would be more highly regarded if he had won at least one Super Bowl.

Washington Commanders: Sammy Baugh

It's been 60 years since Sammy Baugh retired from football but the former TCU star has still thrown more touchdown passes than any other Washington player. Baugh led the NFL in passing 6 times during his career and was named All-Pro 7 times.

He led them to 2 NFL championships. Baugh was named to both the NFL's 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams. Baugh played offense and defense and was also one of the greatest punters in NFL history. When the Pro Football Hall of Fame introduced its inaugural class in 1963, Baugh was one of the 17 inductees.
