The No. 14 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-2, 3-2 Southeastern Conference), the No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies (7-1, 5-0) and the No. 6 Texas Longhorns (7-1, 3-1) all came out of Week 9 with big wins. The Crimson Tide hosted the No. 25 Missouri Tigers (6-2, 2-2) at home and won 34-0, the Aggies hosted the No. 16 LSU Tigers (6-2, 3-1) at home and won 38-23, and the Longhorns were hosted by the Vanderbilt Commodores (5-3, 2-2) and won 27-24.
Alabama Wins in a Blowout
The Crimson Tide came into this game coming off a tough defeat to the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers (6-1, 3-1) in Week 8 24-17. But they were ready to rebound and bounce back in this one.
This one was actually a good game through the first two quarters as the Crimson Tide only led 13-0 going into halftime. That is until they scored 21 more points combined through the final two quarters.
The Crimson Tide dominated Tigers quarterback Brady Cook as he went 7-of-12 passing for 30 yards to go along with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Crimson Tide defense also sacked him once. The Crimson Tide outgained the Tigers 486-239 and picked off Tigers backup quarterback Drew Pyne 3 times in this one as they dominated this game.
Texas A&M Breaks Out
The Aggies knew that this game was going to be a slugfest and one that they were going to have to win if they wanted to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. They did just that and upset the Tigers at home and sent the fans at Kyle Field into a frenzy.
The Tigers actually led this one 17-7 going into the half as quarterback Garrett Nussmeier had 2 touchdown passes and was looking good.
That is until Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed stole the show and had 3 rushing touchdowns in the second half alone, to help bring the Aggies back. The Aggies defense also helped out as they picked off Nussmeier 3 times and notched a huge win, especially at home. They even moved into the top 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 standings.
Texas Wins on the Road
The Longhorns went on the road to face a tough Commodores team that was fresh off a three-game winning streak and one of those games being against the Crimson Tide. But that had no effect on Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers as he had a great game despite the turnovers.
Ewers was 27-of-37 passing for 288 yards 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. But his touchdown passes in the first half helped the Longhorns take a 21-10 lead into the second half and never look back. The Longhorns defense shut down Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia and only allowed touchdown passes when it really did not matter and the game was already over.
The Longhorns really needed this win after the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1) defeated them in the previous week 30-15. They needed to find their game again and get back to their winning ways and did just that in this one.
