WHAT'S AT STAKE?

The Hokies are set out on a redemption journey, to prove the 2022 season was a fluke. Last season, the Hokies had their worst season in the last 30 years, as they ended the season at 3-8.

Second-year Head Coach Brent Pry must find a way this year to finish games. They lost two games last year by one point. Also, he must restore the pride and the blue-collar work ethic that Virginia Tech was built on.

From the outside looking in, Coach Pry is off to a great start. He has almost completely flipped the roster in just one off-season. The Hokies have brought in over 58 players, from the transfer portal and the recruiting class.

Here is the catch: Can the Hokies and Coach Pry take the next step in the rebuild? They have a very interesting first game, as they play a familiar opponent in Old Dominion.

The Hokies and Monarchs have played four times since 2017, and both schools have picked up two wins a piece. Here is the interesting thing in all four meetings the home team has won. Is this a forgone conclusion for the Hokies? We shall see Saturday night in Blacksburg.

KEY PLAYERS:

QB Grant Wells - Virginia Tech

WR Ali Jennings - Virginia Tech

The Offensive Line - ODU

QB Grant Wilson - ODU

Prediction:

The big question on every Hokies' mind: Can Coach Pry really turn the Hokies back into ACC power like they once were? On paper, the Hokies should have no problem with ODU. The Hokies have the better talent on both sides of the ball. If history has taught us anything about college football anything can and will happen. All I have to say, this is going to be a hard-hitting game, but the Hokies put away ODU in the second half and win 42-17.
