The Ole Miss Rebels are one of the most intriguing teams heading into the 2024 season, expectations set high. The Rebels aim to capture a Southeastern Conference title and clinch a playoff berth. With the talent of Jaxson Dart and the coaching of Lane Kiffin, the 2024 season could be the one Ole Miss fans have been waiting for. Here’s how the Rebels’ season should play out:

Week 1: Furman Paladins

Ole Miss will start its season with a warm-up game against the Furman Paladins. The Rebels and Paladins have met only once, with Furman winning 7-2 in 1924. A century later, Ole Miss is expected to make quick work of the Paladins and use the game to test its offense without Quinshon Judkins.

Record: 1-0

Week 2: Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders

The Rebels will keep the momentum going with a win over Middle Tennessee. Similar to Furman, the Rebels and Blue Raiders have met only once before, with Ole Miss securing a 45-14 victory in 2001. The Rebels should be able to win the game handily.

Record: 2-0

Week 3: at Wake Forest Demon Deacons

In the third week of the season, the Rebels face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The teams have met twice before, with Wake Forest winning both times, including their most recent matchup in 2008. However, in 2024, things will be different. The Rebels’ offense, led by Dart, will be firing on all cylinders, and Ole Miss is expected to dominate the Demon Deacons, who are projected to finish the 2024 season near the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Record: 3-0

Week 4: Georgia Southern Eagles

Before diving into SEC play, the Rebels will face the Georgia Southern Eagles for the first time. This game is likely to follow the pattern of the previous games, with the Rebels rounding into top form, ready for SEC competition.

Record: 4-0

Week 5: Kentucky Wildcats

With the warm-ups complete, the Rebels will face their first real challenge against the Kentucky Wildcats. Ole Miss leads the all-time series with 29 wins and 13 losses. In their last 10 meetings, the Rebels have won seven. Dart, Tre Harris and Caden Prieskorn are expected to provide too much firepower for the Wildcats to handle.

Record: 5-0

Week 6: at South Carolina Gamecocks

Facing the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 6 at Columbia, S.C., the Rebels aim to extend their lead in the all-time series. Ole Miss currently hold a 9-7 edge over the Gamecocks. With a clicking offense and new defensive additions making their mark, the Rebels will continue their strong start.

Week 7: at LSU Tigers

While the LSU Tigers sent their main offensive weapons to the NFL this offseason, this team will be a threat to make the College Football Playoff in 2024. Garrett Nussmeier, the successor to Jayden Daniels, showcased his talent in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Wisconsin. Nussmeier excelled in his start, leading the Tigers to a win with 395 passing yards. The offense won’t look the same due to the difference in Nussmeier’s and Daniels’ play styles, but it will still be effective. This game will be close, but the Rebels will secure their first signature win of the season, igniting the Dart Heisman campaign.

Record: 7-0

Week 8: Bye

Week 9: Oklahoma Sooners

The Rebels face the SEC newcomers in Week 9. The SEC will not be the only new challenge for the Oklahoma Sooners, as their offense will look different with Jackson Arnold replacing Dillon Gabriel. The Sooners and Rebels have played each other only once before, with the Rebels defeating the Sooners in 1999. Arnold will keep the Sooners competitive, but it won’t be enough to overcome this Rebels team, which plays at a high level on both sides of the ball.

Record: 8-0

Week 10: at Arkansas Razorbacks

The Rebels and Arkansas Razorbacks rivalry is multi-layered. Historically, the Razorbacks have had the upper hand, winning 37 games to Ole Miss’ 29. In their last ten meetings, the Rebels have a 4-6 record. Their matchup last year ended with the Rebels defeating the Razorbacks 27-20. This season, the Razorbacks will be no match for the Rebels.

Record: 9-0

Week 11: Georgia Bulldogs

In Week 11, the Rebels face the college football giant that is the Georgia Bulldogs. The AP preseason No. 1-ranked Bulldogs are a powerhouse looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs last year. Their defense is formidable, and Carson Beck continues to impress. This game will be a fierce battle, must-see TV for anyone who can watch. The atmosphere will be electric as the Bulldogs enter Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, and despite the home crowd backing the Rebels, Ole Miss will fall just short, suffering their first loss of the season.

Record: 9-1

Week 12: Bye

Week 13: at Florida Gators

The Florida Gators face one of the toughest schedules in college football, including games against Miami, Texas, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Texas A&M and Ole Miss. This challenging slate could put head coach Billy Napier’s job in jeopardy. Moreover, this game will be a bounce-back opportunity for the Rebels, helping them regain their confidence after playing Georgia. Dart will continue to shine, and his Heisman odds will rise.

Record: 10-1

Week 14: Mississippi State Bulldogs

Rivalry week will see Ole Miss facing the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Egg Bowl is always an exciting watch, but the Bulldogs and Rebels are in completely different tiers in 2024. Ole Miss will close out their terrific season with a major win, securing a spot in the SEC Championship and ultimately the College Football Playoff.

Ole Miss 2024: Hotty Toddy

This season will be one to remember for Ole Miss and should be the most impressive in a long while. Dart will be a Heisman finalist, boosting his NFL draft stock throughout the year. With the new College Football Playoff format, the Rebels are primed for a deep run with a chance to win a national championship.
