Oklahoma State Cowboy running back and Heisman Trophy contender Ollie Gordon II was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, as well as alleged speeding and reckless driving. Gordon has since been released as of Monday evening and will await potential charges.
Incident Details
On Sunday around 2:30 a.m., Gordon was pulled over on Interstate 35 south of Oklahoma City going 82 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone, as well as swerving through traffic per an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. After Gordon was pulled over, the trooper performing the traffic stop said they had spotted a half-full bottle of vodka and a half-full bottle of tequila in Gordon's vehicle, prompting for probable cause according to News on 6. The trooper had also smelled "an odor associated with an alcoholic beverage," coming from the driver according to KOCO5 Oklahoma City's Jonathan Greco.
Gordon "denied drinking when asked and told the trooper he had been around friends who had" according to KOCO5's Greco as well. He allegedly refused to take a field sobriety test and later admitted to consuming just one alcoholic beverage. Gordon, at 20 years old, could also be subject to alleged minor in possession and open container laws.
After once again allegedly refusing to take a test, Gordon was booked to Cleveland County Jail where he allegedly blew a sample of 0.11. He was released on Monday and no formal charges have been filed according to reports. Neither Oklahoma State nor Gordon has commented on the matter.
Gordon's Impact at Oklahoma State
Gordon was named the 2023 Doak Walker Award winner after rushing for 1,732 yards on an average 6.1 yards per carry. Gordon also scored 21 rushing touchdowns and notched 330 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown as well.
The junior is considered to be the top running back in the country once again and a top NFL Draft prospect. Gordon returned for his junior year after mulling over entering the draft after his sophomore year. He is expected to be the Cowboys' top offensive contributor this year and will be a major part of their offensive game plan.

There have been no talks of suspension regarding this incident as of yet, however, should he face suspension Oklahoma State's offense will lose a team leader both on and off the field. Gordon's impact was seen in droves last year as he was the key player who carried the Cowboys all the way to the Big 12 Conference Championship Game. The Cowboys look to repeat that success, and now potentially without Gordon for a foreseeable amount of time, that potential to repeat diminishes exponentially.
The story is ongoing and as stated earlier, no charges have been filed and no suspensions have been mentioned as of yet. College Football Dawgs will continue to update as news breaks on the matter.
