The No. 14 LSU Tigers (3-1, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) look to keep their winning streak alive as the visiting South Alabama Jaguars (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference) make their trip to Death Valley. The Tigers defeated the UCLA Bruins (1-2, 0-1 Big Ten Conference) 34-17 in Week 4 and the Jaguars defeated the Appalachian State Mountaineers (2-2, 0-1 Sun Belt) 48-14 in Week 4. The Tigers and Jaguars will meet at 7:45 p.m. EST on Sept. 28 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

What's at Stake?

LSU head coach Brian Kelly looks to improve his record with the Tigers to 24-8 overall.

The quarterbacks for the Jaguars look to continue their streak of throwing no interceptions this season. They are one of just 14 teams nationally that have not thrown an interception all season.

Key Players: LSU

Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, Tight End Mason Taylor

Nussmeier won SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors after his performance against the Bruins. He completed 32-of-44 passes for 352 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Taylor is the Tigers' record holder for receptions with 99 and receiving yards with 999 by a player who plays his position.

Defensive Ends Bradyn Swinson and Sai'vion Jones

Swinson earned this week's SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Bruins. He has had consecutive games with 2 sacks and his 5 sacks this season rank No. 2 in the SEC.

Jones put up a pretty good game against the Bruins as well. He had 4 tackles with one of them being for a sack. He is a consistent standout player on the Tigers' defensive line.

Key Players: South Alabama

Quarterback Gio Lopez, Running Back Fluff Bothwell

Lopez has been a beast for the Jaguars' offense. So far this year, he's thrown for 843 yards while running for 171 more yards. Lopez has passed for 9 touchdowns and added 2 TDs rushing.

Bothwell has had a really good season. He leads his team in rushing with 359 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also has scored 2 touchdowns in each of the Jaguars' last two games.

Safeties Jordan Scruggs and Jaden Voisin

Scruggs won the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honor for his performance in last week's game against the Mountaineers. He had a school-record 96-yard interception return.

Leading up to kickoff this year, Voisin saw his name on 10 preseason watch lists. These watch lists include Phil Steele's Preseason Team, Athlon Sports Preseason Team, SBC Preseason Team, Shrine Bowl 1,000 List, Nagurski Trophy Watch List, Thorpe Award Watch List, Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, HERO Sports G5 All-American List, Bednarik Award Watch List and the 2025 Senior Bowl Watch List. He is a special player.

Trends to Watch

Over their last two games, the Jaguars have scored 135 points. They look to keep up that streak of scoring a ton of points against the Tigers.
