Hurricanes Secure Four-Star Recruit to Bolster Defense Depth

Miami Hurricanes Four-Star Recruit

The Miami Hurricanes picked up an excellent recruit to bolster their 2025 recruiting class.

According to On3 Recruits, the Hurricanes landed 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback Jaboree Antoine. Antoine chose the Hurricanes over powerhouses LSU and Florida State.

Jaboree Antoine in High School

Antoine went to high school in Westgate, La. In his sophomore year, he was a 2-way player where he started at cornerback and quarterback. He finished with 32 total tackles, 11 pass breakups and 5 pass breakups when lining up at cornerback. As a quarterback, he completed 105 of 186 passes for 1,650 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also ran for 303 total yards.

That same season, he led his team to a 10-4 record and the semifinals of Louisiana's Division I Non-Select playoffs.

In Antoine's junior year, he missed 7 of 12 games because of a collarbone injury. Antoine played the first 4 games of the season, then returned at the end of the season.

His Westgate Tigers eventually lost to champion Ruston in the second round of Louisiana's Division I Non-Select playoffs.

Hurricanes' 2025 Recruiting Class

Antoine joins a class already containing 19 commitments for the 2025 season. According to 247Sports, the Hurricanes' 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 9 in the nation.

The recruiting class contains 9 four-stars—including Antoine—and 9 three-stars.

Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal

On3's Scouting and Rankings Team provided a synopsis of how Antoine projects as a college player. They wrote:

"Long-bodied versatile defensive back prospect with tremendous cover skills and ability to break up passes at the catch point. Measured in at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds during summer campus visits. Smooth in his back pedal and transitions. Very comfortable in man coverage, sticky defender. Excellent field vision and ability to break to the football once the quarterback pulls the trigger. Unverified long speed but is a smooth mover with twitch that can play as a center field safety. Also displays impressive moment skills when playing quarterback for his high school team as well. Willing tackler when working downhill but not overly violent. Verified top-end speed could assist in determining his ceiling but has an extremely high floor regardless."

The Hurricanes and coach Mario Cristobal are eager to get the College Football Playoff National Championship trophy in their hands. Miami will have to compete with a tough Florida State team, which just missed the College Football Playoff, and a very good North Carolina team.
