Dawg Preview: Tulane at Memphis

The 4-1 Tulane Green Wave travels to Memphis to take on the 4-1 Tigers in a matchup that fans of AAC football are sure to enjoy. Will these two high-scoring offenses go back and forth in a shootout, or will turnovers and opportunistic defense turn this game into a low-scoring battle of attrition? Either case is a possibility in this intriguing Friday the 13th matchup.

Broadcast Information:

Kickoff Friday, October 13th at 7 pm EST on ESPN

On the call: Anish Shroff, Andre Ware, and Paul Carcaterra

Listen: Memphis Tiger Network and/or Tulane IMG Sports Network

What's at Stake?

Both Tulane and Memphis have aspirations of reaching the AAC championship game, and the winner of Friday night's matchup will cement themselves as the odds-on favorite to win the conference. This is not an elimination game by any means, but the loser will have little room for error moving forward if they wish to make the conference title game in a competitive AAC.

Key Players Memphis:

QB - Seth Henigan

WR - Roc Taylor

Key Players Tulane:

QB - Michael Pratt

DB - Lance Robinson

Key Matchups:

QB Seth Henigan and the Memphis passing attack facing off against Lance Robinson and the rest of Tulane's ball-hawking secondary will be key in which way this game goes. Will Memphis be able to move the ball through the air, or will Tulane create havoc in the secondary and add to their already impressive interception total? Another matchup to watch will be Tulane's struggling red zone offense against the Tiger's stingy red zone defense. Will Tulane be able to score touchdowns inside the twenty, or will the Tiger's defense force the Green Wave into field-goal situations?

Prediction Tulane at Memphis:

While both of these teams have the ability to score points in large numbers, it's the defenses that will take center stage Friday night. Expect a low-scoring and somewhat sloppy game with multiple turnovers on both sides. These teams match up very well with each other and this game should go down to the wire with Tulane winning but not covering the spread.

Final SCORE: Tulane 24 Memphis 21
