What's At Stake?
Colorado has been in the national spotlight all off-season after Deion Sanders took over coaching duties back in December of 2022. He brought a lot of notoriety to the fledging program, as well as some notable players from his time as the head coach at Jackson State University.
As for TCU, they are coming off a great year, going 13-2 in 2022, with a Big 12 Championship berth where they lost to Kansas State. While they lost their quarterback and several wide receivers, TCU looks to repeat the magic of last season.
Key Players
QB Shedeur Sanders - Colorado
CB Travis Hunter - Colorado
QB Chandler Morris - TCU
RB Trey Sanders - TCU
Key Matchups
Colorado's Shedeur Sanders will have his work cut out for him. Moving from an HBCU into a P5 school is a big jump, and this Colorado offensive line may not have the strength or cohesion as a team to stop the TCU front defensive line.
The TCU wide receiver room is quite deep, but also new. They also will have their hands full with cornerback Travis Hunter. The former number-one recruit overall has been a highlight reel throughout his college career. Expect big plays from him and even more highlights to come.
Prediction
While Colorado has been the buzziest team all offseason, that mainly has to do with thier coach, not their players. Colorado has a brand new roster with 86 guys that were not on the team in 2022. With that many new and unproven players, I expect more than just a couple of summer months practicing for them to gel as a team. Even with the turnover at key offensive positions, I expect TCU to handle Colorado at home, sending Coach Prime home to sing the Folsom Prison Blues. TCU wins 37-20.
