The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1, 7-1 Big Ten Conference) are seemingly hitting their stride on the field and on the recruiting trail as of late. Head coach Ryan Day and his staff are seemingly making a huge push late in the 2025 recruiting cycle and getting a head start in 2027. They added five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown for 2027 and flipped three-star cornerback Jordyn Woods for 2025. On top of those huge commitments, they still seem to be making a push to add and retain more players for this year as well.

Jamier Brown

Brown committed to the Buckeyes immediately after their huge 38-15 win over No. 5 Indiana (10-1, 9-1) on Nov. 23. The 5-foot-11, 170 pound WR is the first player to commit to Ohio State in the 2027 class. He is the No. 1 player in Ohio for 2027, and the No. 6 national prospect according to the 247Sports composite rating.

Brown currently plays for Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio, the same school former Ohio State star Braxton Miller played for as a recruit. He has been outstanding in his sophomore year, including an explosive outburst for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns in a playoff win on Nov. 17. WR coach Brian Hartline added yet another possible future star for his group in Brown.

Jordyn Woods

The Buckeyes added yet another CB to their 2025 class in the three-star prospect. Woods flipped to Ohio State on Nov. 25 after previously being committed to Cincinnati. He is not your typical outside defensive back. He stands at 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. Some websites and recruiting sources have him listed as big as 6-foot-5, 195 pounds. Regardless of his true measurements, Ohio State's staff will only add more strength to his frame.

The Buckeyes will gladly welcome a large, physical DB on the outside. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles is very aggressive and would certainly take advantage of having such a presence on the perimeter. He could also play the slot CB position given his instincts and how sound of a tackler he has been. Woods moves downhill incredibly fast and wraps up while driving through the ball carrier. He is everything the current Ohio State defense looks for at the position.

Further Buckeyes' Recruiting

Despite the success Ohio State has found with their 2025 class, they are absolutely not finished yet. Tennessee commit David Sanders Jr. is the consensus No. 1 tackle in the class. Despite him commitment, Sanders was at Ohio State over the weekend. He was on the sidelines for the game against Indiana and reportedly stayed until Nov. 25. Many reports are stating that he will be back on Nov. 30 for the Michigan game and that the Buckeyes have entered back into the race.

Current Ohio State commit Na'eem Offord will also finally be back in Columbus on Nov. 30 after cancelling numerous visits this season due to scheduling conflicts. The No. 2 CB in the nation has stayed committed to the Buckeyes this year despite taking multiple visits to Oregon and his home-state school in Auburn. Most reports have been labeling the Tigers as the front-runners now. The Buckeyes will have one more chance to make their case as to why Offord should stay on track to be a Buckeye.

The Buckeyes might also look to add a second player in the 2027 class very soon. The No. 2 QB Brady Edmunds will also be in attendance on Nov. 30 along with Brown. Edmunds could be on commitment watch as Brown may look to make a Buckeyes' recruiting pitch of his own to his possible future QB. With the biggest game of Ohio State's season taking place, the recruiting efforts toward every player in attendance will be at full-force.
