Temple Owls Look to Rebound

The Temple Owls released their 2024 schedule in conjunction with the American Athletic Conference on February 29th. The Owls went just 3-9 overall in 2023. They posted a 0-5 road record but got to a 3-4 mark at home. A record they will certainly look to improve upon heading into next season.

Temple Football doesn’t play host to an FCS opponent this season, something that hasn’t been done since the Covid-shortened 2020 season. The Owls do play three bowl-eligible teams from last year, in Oklahoma, Coastal Carolina, and Utah State. They also host conference newcomer, Army for a Thursday night game in late September.

The Owls will host a few teams for the first time, including Coastal Carolina, Utah State, FAU, as well as North Texas.

A Look at the 2024 Slate

First up, they travel to national power Oklahoma to start the 2024 campaign. They return to the east coast the following week to face off against conference foe Navy in Annapolis, MD. Then a three-game home stretch begins vs Coastal Carolina, Utah State, and Army. The Owls will look to get their first win over Army since 2013, a 33-14 victory in Philadelphia. They’ll next travel to another 3-9 team from last season, Uconn, before their first bye of the season in Week 7. Back to conference play where they match up at home with Tulsa before traveling to Greenville, NC to take on the Pirates of ECU. Another bye in Week 10 before alternating road and home games to end the season. First, traveling to last season's AAC champions, Tulane, before hosting FAU. A possible flex game vs UTSA will take place on either November 22nd or 23rd before wrapping up the regular season with another Texas team, North Texas, at home on November 30th.

Head coach Stan Drayton will look to build off the positives (however few) from last season and try to put Temple back towards the top of the new-look AAC, a place they haven’t been since 2016.
