WHO IS JORDAN ROSS
Jordan Ross is a five-star EDGE from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, AL. The 6-foot-5-inch, 225-pound EDGE committed to Tennessee over Florida, Texas and Alabama. He also plays basketball for Vestavia Hills.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE COMMITMENT FOR TENNESSEE
Ross gives Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel his 13th four-star commit for the 2024 class. Tennessee is now up to sixth in the On3 Recruiting rankings and fourth in the SEC. Ross joins fellow four-star Kellen Lindstrom as Tennessee’s second EDGE commit in the 2024 class.
HOW QUICKLY CAN JORDAN ROSS CONTRIBUTE AT TENNESSEE?
Four of Tennessee’s six defensive linemen on the two-deep are seniors. However, Ross will have to compete with a few heavily recruited youngsters who will have a year in the system ahead of him. But the opportunity to play and potentially start early in his Tennessee career is there.
SCOUTING JORDAN ROSS
Jordan Ross, as an EDGE, can play either the down defensive end position in a four-linemen set or standing as an OLB in a three-linemen set. Ross is lightning-quick getting off the ball and has great closing speed. He has a large wingspan and active hands which helps shed blocks in the run game. He will need to bulk up some to handle the offensive lines in the SEC. While he is lightning-quick for an EDGE Ross will also need to add some pass-rush moves to his repertoire.
